We’ve been working hard the past week to get our trails packed and the water holes filled. Our major wet area, trail 88 East of 77, is still challenging us. We have been letting it freeze for the past week. This section of trail has not been groomed, but riders have reported it being wet. Please be careful if you find yourself in this area. We have some logging still going on off of Adams Trail, H58 West of town, and 8 east of town about 9 miles. Be cautious in this area, log trucks and pickups are working feverishly to finish up. The rest of 88, 888, and 89 are all snow covered. In general, low lying areas where water was standing will be ice and rough.
As always, Ride Safe and Bring them Home Alive!

South is in great shape for this time of year. Some dirt showing in corners. Lots of snow in the woods still. Groomer Jerrod
Trail 8 east of GM. Getting ice in the corners, watch your speed entering. Only a few spots where dirt is showing thru. Plenty of snow in da’ woods. I suggest trailering to trailhead parking, town trail is in poor condition. Plenty of trailers this week at Bayshore fueling up sleds. Lake Superior Brewing Co and Oube Stump are closed, but GM Tavern is open on weekends. Stop in Superior Hardware and say hi!
Trailering to trailhead a must. I’m out east and 95% of trail is covered so far. There is some standing water from today in some corners and low areas. All in all, good snow in woods and trails are basically flat.
CAUTION!!!! We have a broke down machine on trail 8 East, 12 miles outside GM.
South run, 443 and 88. They were moguled up in many places. But With The colder temps later in the night they Groomed easier. And are in decent shape. Groomer Phil
North run, 888 & 88. turned out ok. Due to the abundant sunshine all day It started out gummy… But smoothed out decent later on. And a big thank you for the homemade molasses cookies from the sledders at the Pickerel Lake parking lot. Verrrrry good! NOTE: seven miles of 8 West didn’t get groomed last night due to mechanical problems on our groomer that went 8 East. Groomer Phil
North Trail was STELLAR ! Last night, IT WAS A NICE , VIRTUALLY MOGUL FREE RUN . A SMALL BLAST OF SNOW YESTERDAY LEFT SOME DRIFTS HERE AND THERE , AND THIS COLD AIR WILL KEEP IT IN GREAT SHAPE . THANKS TO MY CO- WORKERS AT GRAND MARAIS SNOW- TRAILS FOR KEEPING IT “ALL ” TOGETHER !!! P.S. YOU WILL HAVE TO COME SEE THESE TRAILS , TO BELIEVE … Groomer Ted
443 and 88. Both were in really good shape. Almost mogul free. Some drifting on 88 and way south on 443 in the open areas towards the bra tree. Cut the drifts down and smoothed out. I noticed some ice in the 90 deg corners. Otherwise on excellent shape. Drifting on 443. Just a reminder the logging continues on 443 near airport Rd. Groomer Phil

Trail 443 Thursday night. Flat, packed, wide and well groomed. Excellent conditions. Groomer Dan
Did the West run. Trails 89, 88. Both were in decent shape. They smooth out nice. Be careful There’s thick sugar type snow throughout this run so your sleds will dance around a lot more on this loose snow. Only noticed two thin corners near the visitors center parking area. Groomer Phil
There ARE areas in town that are PAVEMENT. SAND-SNOW in many places with no new snowfall. There is frozen dirt showing in very few places on the trail.

West trail, 8, 88, and 89 were beat up from all the traffic this past weekend. We’re getting them back into shape! It’s Tuesday, better get them weekend plans made and make Grand Marais your base.
Trails 443 and 88 were moguled and corners were bermed up due to a busy day in Grand Marais. They smoothed out nicely last night for another day of riding. 1st picture is Trail 8 on the way back to the barn -3 degrees sunny blue skies
I groomed 8, 888 and 88 this evening, it was a little bumpy but groomed up excellent. It is ready for another weekend of heavy traffic. Riders should beware of the blowing and drifting snow mostly in the open areas. From Groomer Will
South run. “Baby it’s cold outside!” 🎶
The cold temps are back after a two day warm up. Trails 443 and 88 east of Grand Marais are still in excellent shape. The warm up didn’t hurt the trail base at all. We’re having high winds and more fresh snow so open areas are drifting. Pictures are Trail 443 from Groomer Phil
